lets actually only "set" the fiurst keymap... it just doesnt work at
all ofr me otherwise. at least now it works consistently and gadget
lets me flip keylayouts (that i've added to my list). yay! major yay! :)

Get rid of a ton of useless NULL checks and assignments, remove some dead variables, change left click behavior - make it show a menu of layouts instead to pick from, the quick switching ability is now on middle click.
